The story of Illidan Stormrage

Greetings to the inquisitive!
Illidan Stormrage has had plenty of notable moments in the lore, for example; being the first Demon Hunter, betraying Sargeras(hence the 'betrayer' title), and creating the second well of eternity to name a few. So relax if you feel like you might need to catch up at all. I have all the little details that you might need to know right here. So just scroll down to learn more about Illidan Stormrage.
Illidan's story begins with Azshara the Queen of the Night elf's, and lord Xavius her trusted advisor. Illidan is approaching them proclaiming his devotion to their cause, which was to bring the dark titan Sargeras into this world by allowing him to use the Well of Eternity to enter in his true and terrible form. This was not Illidans true intention however, he was actually just planning on obtaining the demon soul from Deathwing to ensure the wells continuation regardless of outcome in this 'war of the ancients' that was happening at the time. He of course offered to capture the demon soul for Sargeras, which the dark Titan caught wind of and enjoyed very, very much.
So much in fact that Sargeras told Illidan to look real close at that fire extinguisher....
Okay it wasn't really like that... Sargeras actually did like what Illidan had offered to do for him, and instead told Illidan to look into the well of eternity,which then caused two glowing green tendrils of fel magical energy to seep into Illidans eyes, burning them out and installing new glowing orbs in place of what was there. This allowed Illidan to see any form of magic, and it has been heard from him that his sight has never been clearer. So he must be pretty cool with it... I think.
It was certainly better than the sight he previously possessed, moving forward..
There is little action in the timeline of Illidan Stormrage after the War of the Ancients, because he was locked up by the Wardens for ten thousdand years for the little stint he pulled in the employ of the Burning Legion. (He betrayed his people, forever dubbing him 'The Betrayer.')This was a torturous time for Illidan who, the whole time, was locked in a cell to experience and be conscious for every second of his long eternal imprisonment... This is probably very hard for you to internalize, because we as humans cannot live past a certain point, our cells just die out too quick.
His release was never actually planned, but it happened when the burning legion again threatened Azeroth, this time though they came with a different army than their own...The undead Scourge. I'll go into the specifics of all this in a later article, I technically have to since the undead and the scourge in general are one of my favorite parts of the Warcraft lore..
Illidan was released from his prison by Tyrande Whisperwind, who was a love interest of both Illidan and his brother Malfurion and this inevitably led to some tension between the brothers, anyway Illidans powers as a Demon Hunter would be more than useful in any fight involving the burning legion and Tyrande knew this, so she released him and set him on the path of redeeming himself and battling the legion at the same time. Malfurion did not like this at all but thats not really important int this article..
Skipping over several points in the story.. Illidan found the skull killed all the demons he could find and even saved the area from corruption..or so he thought.. I mean why is the area still called Felwood if it isn't still corrupted? He did say that in time the forests will heal, so maybe that just hasn't happened yet.. Anyway this article is about Illidan not Felwood (If you want me to talk about that, just ask :D) So I'll try to stay on track here..
Malfurion and Tyrande found out about how Illidan absorbed the powers of the Skull instead of just destroying it like any other night elf would of. They banished him for this, and this is where Illlidan starts making his own moves, making an army from Kael'thas and his blood elfs, Akama and the Ashtounge Deathsworm who followed him, and the Naga under Lady Vashj. This army was formed so Illidan could evade and fight against the legion mostly, but since Kil'jaeden still had his eyes on Illidan he could not just escape his fate of serving them. Kil'jaeden gave Illidan the task of going to the frozen throne and destroying Ner'zhul the Lich King who has become far too powerful for Kil'Jaeden himself to control. Wishing to look as servile as possible to his looming masters which watched him and saw his every move.

The objective of destroying the Lich King proved too much for Illidan to complete, Arthas once again met Illidan on the field of battle and beat the betrayer fair and square... Illidan messed up big time and now fully dedicated himself and any who choose to follow him to eradicating the burning legion.... Something which no one has ever been able to do in the history of existence.

That is where the Burning Crusade expansion for world of Warcraft brought us, Illidan had fled to outland and made himself ruler, imprisoning the pit lord Magtheridon and in the process ripping the floating remnants of a planet straight from the clutches of a destructive Burning Legion. We went across the Dark Portal over to the desolate remains of Draenor to stop the burning legion, and only found ourselves with a whole other enemy that had actually originated from Azeroth...
We defeat Illidan in the battle for the Black Temple and after that Maiv takes the Demon Hunter back to his prison with the wardens, resuming an eternity of agonizing and utterly boring imprisonment. Until Gul'dan (from AU Draenor) comes over and frees the demon hunter, which doesnt really make any sense and I really cannot wait to find out what all this is going to lead too..
